I am sitting here, in the library passing time in between classes. The life of the college student is very different from the life of a non college student. My life is void of an serious responsibility, other than school and health, and is frequently interrupted by schedule change. It is tough for me to find a rhythm and be productive with change happening every 3-4 months. Routine happens, then is broken by a new job, or new class. It may sound like I am complaining, but as I enter my second semester junior year I am going to embrace this lifestyle. I have new study habits, a new roommate, a new job, and a new outlook on riding and I am going to make the best of these changes.
This summer I will be working with Rodney Moreweiser and Mike Wilson at Grove Street Bicycles in Jersey City, New Jersey. The crew at Grove Street is refreshing and energetic. They put their all into everything that is done. My time at High Gear Cyclery was awesome, and the people were great. I don't think I could have asked for more when looking for an employer that would help foster great customer service skills and teach me some of the ins and outs of the cycling industry. My last summer home brings be a new opportunity to implement the skills I have learned at HGC and apply them to a new and growing business. I am excited to work with Mike and Rodney and help them toward opportunities for their business in the future. They are very accepting of many of the ideas that I have and encourage both new ideas and action. I really will miss HGC, I worked there for 6 years, and it was my first semi-serious job. I am glad how well the transition went between the two businesses and how their are no harsh feelings or bitterness. I really think both of these shops are going to kill it in the future as they are both so different in what markets they appeal to.
Riding is something I am working on doing more regularly. I saw the benefits of how a semi-structured plan or just riding for fun over the summer helped my form in some early season cross races. For now, I am not planning to do any cross racing next year. Cross is at a difficult time of the year for my school life and academics. I have come to an appreciation for my education and I want to be able to maintain my focus during the fall semester. I am however working actively wit Mike and Rodney at Grove Street to make sure that I am able to ride my bike/train/race. I have one more summer before I get a career and switch to a routine lifestyle. I want to make the best of this summer and attack goals and achieve something while having fun.
Many awesome things are happening around me right now too. Mike and Rodney are growing a business and Chris Worden is going to be working for bicycling magazine. I really wish the best to these people, it's awesome what they are doing!

Ive been cooking alot lately, and Lisa got me a camera so I may just have to post some pictures of what we create.

Look for some ride reports and photos as I explore Northern New York and the Berkshires this winter and early spring.

Ohh and I forgot to post this before, but a friend from junior racing, Brian Kleiber has started a blog collective called CultureCycles hes been really cool about getting the word out for Grove Street and its a cool idea of collecting blog posts into one arena.

on my way to LI

havent posted on my blog in awhile despite repeating over and over to myself that during my return to riding a bike i would keep up with posts. i havent kept up with posts but i definetly have ridden my bike. i feel so much better. i have dropped almost 17 pounds this summer just riding and eating healthy. ive completed three racing days. one crit and one weekend of cross. my legs feel good however i always know that there is more training i can do. the start of the NYCROSS series is getting closer, however i will not be attending the first race. that weekend i will be in NC celebrating lisas cousins wedding. the next weekend is vermont UCI weekend and i will race there. that is all far away however. in less that a week i will be on my way to palmer mass for some cross racing, then cape cod, then albany NY! moving into cushing and cooking! i am really looking foward to this school year.. a new, more interesting and lively major, and lots of material for discussion. i was gonna end saying i will post more now that i have this app but who knows... somehow when i checked my statcounter i had MAD views on my blogger. thanks everybody.

I am back on the bike and no longer dealing with injury. I am also back and riding. no training program yet, but im thinking of breaking out the old plans so I atleast have something to guide me. Otherwise, im still working at High Gear and im trying to catch up with all the new bikes and technology. I look foward to maybe posting more on here...
